Klaus Koch – Artist Biography
Contemporary Art Between Nature, Duality, and Transformation
Born in Southern Burgenland, Klaus Koch has found his sanctuary surrounded by forests and untouched nature—a place of inspiration and creativity. His artistic work is deeply influenced by nature, femininity, and duality as a universal principle.
Driven by the search for meaning, Klaus Koch dedicates his art to universal love, authenticity, and spiritual depth. His work is not only a reflection of personal experiences but also a critical response to modern society. As a keen observer of contemporary life, he confronts today’s fast-paced, superficial, and consumer-driven world with skepticism. His sculptures and artistic expressions embody a rebellion against alienation, lack of empathy, and the exploitation of people, animals, and the environment.
Klaus Koch’s art serves as a mirror of societal transformation, a protest against unquestioned progress, and a call for a deeper connection with nature and the self. His creative journey is a continuous exploration of balance, truth, and the essence of human existence.
"Art cannot be learned. It must be felt. True art comes from the heart. Only those who are at peace with themselves can infuse truthfulness into their works. A society whose boundaries I constantly clashed with, frames in which I never fit, convinced me more and more to live differently. In art, I found my path—a path of rebellion, duality, love and passion, introspection, awakening, realization, and ultimately, a connection to myself and the greater whole.
I am constantly preoccupied with the concept of transformation, which, as the only constant, accompanies the transience of every being. Transformation is also inherent in the materials I use. Stones, often hundreds of thousands of years old, reveal to me the creatures that lived back then, allowing me to give them a new form. My preferred materials are marble, noble serpentine, shell limestone, sandstone, stainless steel, steel, tin, bronze alloys, as well as local woods. In painting, I mostly work with acrylic on canvas.
In art, I find the possibility to expose the madness and injustices of the consumer society in our technological information age, to awaken people, and to urge them to take a closer look.
Art provides impulses to pause in the fast pace and superficiality of our daily lives, to linger, to perceive, to listen inwardly, and to be transported into a world of subjective reality, to recognize and ultimately to remember the only thing that matters—love.
True art comes from the heart. Only those who are at peace with themselves can infuse truthfulness into their works. Art cannot be learned; it is a gift. One either carries art within oneself or does not. To reference Picasso—only those who master representational art can move into abstraction.
Nature is perfect. It reflects the sacredness inherent in everything, which is often forgotten and withered. The madness driven by greed, lust for power, arrogance, and hatred dominates the world. The feminine, the aesthetic, the beauty, the warmth, the sensitivity, the sexuality, the desire, the passion, and the only thing that truly matters—love—are the keys to life.
Animals and plants are equal fellow creatures, but they are not treated as such. It is long past time to finally understand that the anthropocentric worldview has ultimately led to the greatest extinction of species, caused by the human species. With this awareness, we must also understand that we are just one species among many, and in the end, the destruction will not spare us either." (Klaus Koch)
Perspectives of Being – The Art of Klaus Koch
The overarching theme of Klaus Koch’s work is "Perspectives of Being"—a profound exploration of human existence, spirituality, and transformation. His art embodies the search for meaning, the quest for a higher power, the origins of life, and the unknown future.
At its core, Koch’s work is also a protest against the accelerating, emotionless global society, dominated by overconsumption, imbalance, and the relentless exploitation of sentient beings and natural resources. He highlights the sixth mass extinction—a crisis driven by human activity—which cannot be separated from sociopolitical and economic influences. His art serves as a mirror of these interconnected fates, urging awareness and change.
Through his sculptures and artistic expressions, Klaus Koch champions coexistence over conflict. His work aims to reveal truths, illuminate beauty, and inspire a more compassionate, respectful, and reflective world. Art, in its truest form, is not just an aesthetic experience—it is a catalyst for conscious evolution and transformation.
Comments
"The artist Klaus Koch has created something incredible. To simply describe his artworks would be presumptuous—they must be seen, felt, and experienced to be understood. Like almost all brilliant minds, Klaus Koch seeks his inspiration in the quiet of nature. Far from the hustle and bustle of technical and digital overstimulation, he finds everything he needs for his creative work. Klaus Koch lives in aesthetics, which is the driving force behind the realization of his imagination. However, for the sculptures made from local hardwoods, stone types such as marble, sandstone, slate, and metal alloys, imagination is not always needed when viewing them—some things reveal themselves to the observer at first glance, and the messages are clear: femininity, beauty, sensitivity, warmth, sexuality, desire, and passion. But the artworks can also be understood as memorials, reflecting war, poverty, misery, hunger, greed for power, hatred, and arrogance. Thus, for Klaus Koch, the search for the meaning of life has remained a search, with the hope that each new work brings him a little closer to the answer. The works of all truly capable minds are distinguished from others by their character of decisiveness and determination, along with the resulting clarity and precision, because such minds always knew clearly and definitively what they wanted to express..."

"Klaus Koch's works are, for me, a symbol of theater. Just like the very best theater, his creations are inspiring canvases for the viewer's imagination. In the most artful manner, only as much is revealed as is necessary to ignite the audience's imagination. The completion is left to the viewer. In this way, Klaus Koch does not create just ONE sculpture with a single object, but infinitely MANY, as they are multiplied through the imagination of their observers. As a proud owner of Klaus Koch's sculptures, I count myself among his admirers and heartily congratulate the artist on his challenging works".
—Prof. Frank Hoffmann
"When visiting Klaus Koch, one cannot help but be captivated by the symphony of art and nature, far removed from everyday life. The powerful cyclopean stone sculptures and the delicate figurative works in wood are symbols of the artist's primal, wild force and his almost unreal, deeply hidden sensitivity. The immense, passionate stone sculptures and the tenderly erotic wooden sculptures will enchant anyone who dares to share their everyday life with such remarkable creations".

Truth
the Pure the Light the True,
the Only one
the Perfect the Essential
the Genuine
Art, metaphysical essence made physical,
Art, the manifestation of the soul's energy,
Art, the manifestation of the intangible,
Art, the manifestation of the incomprehensible,
Art, the manifestation of divine perfection
as an expression of itself.
The artist, caught in the struggle between rationality and emotion
The artist, caught in the struggle between being and non-being
The artist, caught in the struggle between pride, forgiveness, and honor
The artist,

and the in-between
Truth
the wisdom of KNOWING, in the remembrance of the awareness of the truthfulness of the expression of essential being.
